What is the AI Session Note Narrative Generator?
The AI Session Notes Narrative Generator is a feature that uses artificial intelligence to help clinical staff generate high-quality, objective session narratives — faster and with less manual effort. Instead of writing a full narrative from scratch, note authors provide their observations and session details, and the AI transforms that input into a polished clinical note ready for review.
Here's the big picture of how it works from start to finish:
An administrator enables AI on one or more text boxes within a session note template and writes instructions to guide the AI's output
The note author completes all fields as usual and adds their observations in the AI prompt area
The note author clicks Generate — the AI reads the note fields and observations and produces a clinical narrative
The note author reviews the narrative, makes any needed edits, and refines it until it accurately reflects the session
When signing, the author confirms they have reviewed and approved the AI-generated content
What AI Can and Can't Do
It's important to understand the boundaries of this feature so you can use it confidently and responsibly.
The AI can:
Read all fields on the current session note, including data, checkboxes, and written observations
Transform that information into a professional, objective clinical narrative using proper ABA terminology
Incorporate your manual edits as context when regenerating
Follow organization-specific formatting and style instructions set by your administrator
The AI cannot:
Access client profiles, historical session logs, or any data outside the current note
Make clinical recommendations or treatment decisions
Perform actions in the system — it only reads and writes text
Session data is not used for training LLMs. This means that session data maintains confidentiality but also that your narratives won't get 'smarter' over time.
