Multi-Factor Authentication Overview
Multi-Factor Authentication or MFA adds another layer of security when a user logs into their Motivity account. Utilizing MFA helps protect sensitive information and reduces unauthorized access. This article will review how to set up MFA in Motivity and provide guidance on suggested authenticator apps.
Authenticator Apps
Users will need to download an authentication app to begin the MFA process. We are unable to tell you which authenticator app to use as this will depend on organization requirements or preferences. However, we do recommend using an authenticator app, like Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator for enhanced security. With that said, you are free to choose which option works best for you. For further guidance, please consult with your administrator.
Authenticator Extension for Browser
Users may find that an authenticator extension is more appropriate and works as another option for MFA. Please reach out to your administrator to learn more.
Setting up MFA in My Account
Once the authenticator app has been downloaded, login to your Motivity account and click "My Account". You will find the option to set up Multi-Factor Authentication.
A prompt to begin the MFA set up will appear like so, allowing an option to begin the set up or choose to do the set up at another time, see below:
Follow the instructions for adding Motivity to your authenticator app presented on the following page. You can add Motivity by scanning the QR code, or entering the code manually.
Once the previous step is completed, there will be a prompt to enter a 6-digit code from the authentication app. This is necessary to move forward with the process. Additionally, users have the option to cancel the MFA set up.
After the correct code has been entered from the authenticator app, the user is logged into Motivity. Return to "My Account", and a green icon will be displayed indicating that MFA has been successfully enabled along with the date and time stamp.
