How to Add and Edit Standard Rates

This article explains what Standard Rates are, when to use them, and how to add or edit them in Motivity. Standard Rates apply only to private-pay cases. Everything else pulls rates directly from your contracted payors. If you work with private-pay families, this is where you'll define exactly what they’ll be charged for each service.

What Is a Standard Rate?

A Standard Rate is the hourly rate you charge for services under private-pay cases.
Unlike insurance or funding-agency cases, which calculate rates based on your payor contracts, private pay needs a simple, direct rate structure. That’s where Standard Rates come in.

Think of Standard Rates as your organization’s "sticker price" for private-pay services.


How to Add a Standard Rate

  1. Navigate to the Admin module.

  2. Select Standard Rates.

  3. Click Add Standard Rate in the top-right corner.

  4. A list of your Service Inventory items will appear. Select the service you want to set a rate for.

  5. Choose the Office(s) where this rate should apply.

  6. (Optional) Add a Vendor Service Description.

    • Note: Once saved, this field cannot be edited without submitting a help-desk ticket.

  7. Enter the hourly rate (not per-unit).

  8. Click Save.


Editing a Standard Rate

  • To edit existing standard rates, click the pencil icon next to the rate.

  • You may edit all fields except the Vendor Service Description, which is locked after initial creation.
