Patient Preferences Module

Learn how to use the Patient Preferences module in Motivity PM to manage patient-specific availability, provider preferences, and scheduling information in one centralized location.

This article walks you through the Patient Preferences module in Motivity PM, a centralized location within the Patient Profile for managing patient-specific availability and provider preferences. Having all preference information in one place makes scheduling more efficient and ensures your team always has the most up-to-date information at their fingertips.

Navigating to Patient Preferences

To access the Preferences module, navigate to Patient Profile → Preferences.

What's in the Preferences Module?

The Preferences module brings together several key pieces of patient information into a single, organized view:

Availability and Blocked Time

Manage a patient's general availability and any blocked times directly from this section. Any availability or blocked time updates made through the Scheduler will automatically sync here, and vice versa. Note that the blocked time displayed reflects the next upcoming blocked time.

Preferred Language and Preferred Gender

Set and update a patient's language and gender preferences here. If these preferences are updated in the patient's details or calendar, the Preferences section will always reflect the most current information automatically.

Preferred Providers

This section displays providers who have previously been scheduled with the patient. Preferred Providers are automatically populated from active authorization assignments and scheduler assignments, organized by service level — so there's no manual entry needed.

Non-Preferred Providers

This section reflects any provider/patient non-preferred pairings. When scheduling, non-preferred providers are visually highlighted in the Scheduler so your team is aware of the pairing. Users can still proceed with scheduling a non-preferred provider if needed.

Patient Priority

A Patient Priority field is available to support future scheduling optimization. At this time, setting a priority value does not have any downstream impact on scheduling.

How It All Stays in Sync

One of the biggest advantages of the Preferences module is that it's always up to date. Here's how the automatic synchronization works:

  • Availability and blocked times added via the Scheduler automatically update in the Preferences section

  • Language and gender preferences updated in patient details or the calendar automatically update in the Preferences section

  • Preferred Providers automatically populate from active authorization and scheduler assignments

  • All changes made within the Preferences module automatically sync with Scheduler functionality
