How to Use Motivity's "2-Procedures and Program Updates" Program

Within the Motivity Community Library, you will find a program template titled "2-Procedures and Program Updates." This template was designed for the BCBA or clinician to communicate any changes in procedures or program updates to the direct care staff on a recurring basis. For example, if the BCBA supervisor does program and data analysis and program updates on a weekly basis, it may make sense to utilize this program to communicate these changes to the RBT.

To implement this process, you will start by assigning the program to your learner:

Find the template within the Motivity Community Library. Select "Assign" and then "Open for Editing":

To configure your first update, change the name of the target to reflect the date that the updates were written. This allows the front-line staff to see when the updates were made and also allows for the BCBA to keep an accurate record of when they communicated changes to their staff.

Underneath "Mastery" you will want to ensure your session success criteria is set to "Basic" and "1 trial" - this is because the direct care staff will only have to select "Acknowledged" once for this to be considered a successful session.

If you want the target to automatically transition to "Completed" after all of the client's direct care staff have acknowledged the updates, you will want to select "Transition after 1 successful session in a row." Finally, if your client works with multiple RBTs, you will check the box next to "Succeed across at least X people" and input the number of staff who work with that client. This way, the target will not transition to Completed until all staff have acknowledged the updates.

If you do not want the target to transition automatically, you can select "Target does not transition" and you can transition it manually when you would like it to stop appearing in data collection.

This is how the program will appear in data collection:

This is how it will appear when the direct care staff selects the "Acknowledged" button:

Underneath the graph for the target, you can see exactly who acknowledged the updates and when.

Creating Your Next Update

Creating subsequent updates is simple once you have established your workflow. You will start by opening the program editor. In the left panel, you will find the most recent target and clone it.

You can name the new target based on the most recent updates, and then select "Create 1 target":

From there, you will put your updates into the Instructions box, and then update the program.

Upon updating the program, the new target will be immediately available in data collection. You can repeat this process on a weekly cadence--or whatever cadence makes the most sense for you and the particular learner!
